Wikipeida Trail: From Gambling to The Dual Sovereignty Doctrine

Gambling is the beginning of my wikipedia trail which I chose because of the Pandavas misfortune associated with gambling. Gambling the the wagering of money or something of value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the intent of winning money and/or material goods. Many popular games such as craps and baccarat originated in Europe and China.

Gambling Law is the set of rules and regulations that apply to the gambling industry. It is a collection of several areas of law and is enormously complex. In the US, illegal gambling is a federal crime if done as a business.

A Federal Crime is an act that is made illegal by U.S. federal legislation. Prosecution happens at both the federal and the state level based on the Dual Sovereignty doctrine.

The Dual Sovereignty Doctrine states that the government of the United States and of each State therein may each enact their own laws and prosecute crimes pursuant thereto, provided there is no prohibition by the constitution of the United States or of the state in question.
