Week 9 Review: Modes of Thinking

I thought this was a really interesting graphic to show the different ways people commonly think. I have always been a very analytical thinker using logic and following patterns. I have worked to expand my way of thinking to occasionally try to approach problems from a more divergent method of thinking and it has led to creative concepts. Hopefully I will improve my ability to apply both divergent and convergent thinking in order to create diverse and creative ideas as an engineer.

Week 8 Review: Feedback

Feedback
Source
This semester and specifically this class has helped me realize that feedback is an extremely valuable tool. Taking criticisms is not always easy and I used to be offended by it but now I gained the mindset that it is truly given to help me improve. Giving effective feedback is also a skill that I feel like I've improved on throughout this class. Feedback is simply means for improvement! It is not to be feared.

Week 7 Review: Don't Eat Grandma

This meme made me laugh out loud! When I write, I am horrible about using proper punctuation but it really does have to power to completely alter the tone and meaning of your sentence. I'll have to keep this Grandma in mind when I am writing in the future to be sure I don't make a mistake like this one!

Week 6 Review: Imagination Celebration

I really enjoyed this picture because I think it’s important to encourage and celebrate creativity and imagination. Often in engineering I feel like imagination is put in the back seat since there is generally only one correct answer. I’m glad that through this class I am able to use my imagination and be more creative.

Week 5 Review: Let Another's Success Inspire You

I really like this growth mindset meme from Sunday’s announcements. I was just watching a TV show in which the wife become a little bit disappointed and jealous of her husband’s sudden success. I think it’s sometimes hard to not be disappointed when you haven’t had the success you had planned to have but I think it’s really important to let other people’s success inspire you and not bring you down. It’s not always easy but with that outlook I think I would be able to learn from others and gain motivation to keep pursuing my dreams.

Week 4 Review: So Much to Read

I loved this meme because it is so true! I didn’t develop a love for reading until I was out of high school so I feel very behind. There are so many books that I would love to read but being college often makes that difficult. Since I spend so much time reading textbooks for school, when I do have a free moment I don’t want to be reading. This has caused my book list to get very long and I’m hoping to start on it once I get graduated.

Week 3 Review: The Sphinx

As I scrolled past this picture of a statue I knew exactly where it was but no clue what it was. I have walked past this statue so many time and wondered what the meaning behind it was so I really enjoyed seeing this announcement regarding Botero’s Sphinx and I can’t believe that it weights 3000 pounds!!

Week 2 Review: Being Prepared

I really loved this meme and found it to be very relatable to me at this moment. I love being prepared and being able to get things done ahead of time however this last week I was overwhelmed by many unforeseen events taking up more time than I expected. Hopefully for this coming week my planning and organization will be the well for me when I begin to feel stressed.

Week 1 Review: New Blogger

I chose the announcement on blogging for learning because this class is my first time ever blogging. I had never thought to create a blog before but after getting starting this week I'm excited to have all my work for this class in one unique place. I'm looking forward to continuing this semester and improving my writing while I blog!
